Your weight loss motivation depends on these important keys!If you’ve been looking for your long term weight loss motivation out side of yourself you’ve been looking in the wrong place! The number one key to maintaining and achieving your weight loss goals is to be internally motivated to follow through. This means that your primary source of weight loss motivation must be coming from inside of you rather than outside of you.
Outside support is important and it is also secondary to being focused on what is going on with in you. When you become the “source” of your weight loss motivation successful weight loss will become easier than ever before. The Body in Mind® approach to successful weight loss has researched and embraced this empowering fundamental of permanent weight loss motivation.
In fact, in a 1998 study conducted to determine what factors were important for patients to follow through with their doctors prescribed remedies, it was discovered that “autonomous” or self-governing motivation was strongly linked with successful follow through (Williams Health psyche).
Those patients that wanted and were willing to regulate their behavior were significantly more motivated to follow their doctor’s suggestions. Those patients that felt pressured by their doctor’s or them selves had significantly less motivation to change their behaviors. If you want to be motivated to lose weight safely you have to be “willing” to make some changes in your life. The more “willing” your attitude is to change your behaviors the more motivated you’ll be to get what you “want”.
Research shows that most diets fail to get long term results. Less than 5% of the people that will start a diet or weight loss program this year will achieve long term successful weight loss. “Forcing” yourself to follow a strict diet or weight loss program will naturally be less motivating than choosing healthy eating and exercise habits that you want to incorporate into your life, long term. There is a big difference between “forcing” yourself to do something and having a “willing” and open attitude (will power) to do it. You really have to want to live a healthy lifestyle to achieve permanent weight loss.
Psychologists Deci & Ryan found in their 1985 study, that “internalization is a proactive process by which pressured motivations are transformed into willing motivations. You’ve got to internalize your focus, really want to succeed and be willing to make some changes in your life long term. The Body in Mind® Automatic Weight Loss program has been specifically designed to help you with all three of these important keys to your weight loss motivation.
